BetVictor is an online gambling company based in Gibraltar. Founded in 1946, it offers products such as sports betting and online casinos. The company is currently owned by Michael Tabor.

 

BetVictor was founded by William Chandler, who owned Walthamstow Stadium, a greyhound track he opened in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, East London, in 1931. After William Chandler's death in 1946, gaming operations passed to Victor and Jack Sr. Victor Sr. died suddenly in 1974 and the company passed to Victor Jr., who was working in the hospitality industry in Spain.

 

In 1998 the head office was moved to Gibraltar to avoid UK gaming tax. Some see this as a reason why Gordon Brown repealed the gambling tax in his 2001 budget.

In 2004, the company changed its name to "VC Bet". Then in late 2008, Chandler chose to revert the name to "Victor Chandler." In 2012, the company changed its name again to BetVictor to ensure consistency and recognition in all international markets. In May 2014, Michael Tabor, a businessman and major shareholder of Victor Chandler International, took over the company.

In September 2021, BetVictor announced a partnership with Quantum Metric. The deal enables BetVictor to use data collected from users to grow and develop consumer-focused products.

BetVictor sponsors many events, tournaments, teams and individuals. Most notable is Ascot Racecourse's first-year listing Victor Chandler Chase. The company also sponsors the Welsh Open Snooker, World Match Play and Fulham Football Club.

BetVictor has maintained close ties to the horse racing industry throughout its history and has invested heavily in the sport through a number of sponsors and partnerships.

Clarence House Chase is the UK's Division 1 national hunting obstacle course sponsored by BetVictor (then Victor Chandler) from 1989 to 2013. BetVictor went on to sponsor the second Grade 1 National Hunting Jump, the Queen Mother Champion Chase which took place at the Cheltenham Festival in 2014. Other notable sponsorships include the BetVictor Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November from 2016 to 2019, the BetVictor Fighting Fifth Hurdle in Newcastle in 2018 and a number of partnerships with Newbury Racecourse including 41 individual races in 2021-22, including sponsorship of the Greatwood Gold Cup on behalf of Greatwood, a charity that benefits retired horses.

BetVictor sponsors a number of English football teams. Their first football sponsor was Nottingham Forest. BetVictor (then Victor Chandler) was the club's main sponsor from 2009-2012.

BetVictor and Chelsea Football Club have announced a new partnership for the 2015/16 season, with BetVictor becoming the Club's Official Betting and Gaming Partner.

Following the closing of the deal, BetVictor became the Principal Partner and Official Training Kit Partner of Liverpool FC for the period 2016-2018.

In 2013, BetVictor became the title sponsor of the BetVictor World Matchplay Darts Championship, signing a three-year deal which will continue until 2018.

BetVictor is also the title sponsor of the 2019-2020 BetVictor Darts World Cup.

Since 2016, BetVictor has participated in the World Snooker Tour several times, sponsoring events include: BetVictor Home Nations Series including BetVictor Northern Ireland Open 2018-2022, BetVictor England Open 2018-2022, 2018-2018 The BetVictor Scottish Open 2022, and the BetVictor Welsh Open, the fourth and final home series for 2013-2016 and 2021-2022.

The BetVictor European Series includes BetVictor Shoot Out 2019-2022, BetVictor German Masters 2020, BetVictor European Masters 2020-2022 and BetVictor Gibraltar Open 2020-2022.

Ballon d'Or winner and former Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester United and England international Michael Owen joined BetVictor as a brand ambassador in 2014 and will represent the brand across a range of media including television, social media and print until 2022.

Former football manager Harry Redknapp joined BetVictor in 2019 as a brand ambassador and is a regular in the bookmaker's TV commercials.

2021 National Grand Prix winner, 2021 Cheltenham Top Jockey and 2022 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Rachael Blackmore is BetVictor's brand ambassador for 2019-21.

Cheltenham Festival winning national hunting coach Jamie Snowden has been a BetVictor brand ambassador since 2019.

Additionally, former BetVictor brand ambassadors include 23-time Isle of Man table tennis champion John McGuinness and former snooker world champion Judd Trump.

BetVictor holds valid gaming licenses in the UK, Gibraltar and the Republic of Ireland.

BetVictor is an active member of the Gibraltar Gaming and Gaming Association (GBGA), the trade association representing online gaming operators in Gibraltar. BetVictor is also an active member of the Gambling Commission (BGC) The Betting and Gaming Council (bettingandgamingcouncil.com), the regulated UK standards body for the gaming and betting industry.
